New Flyer Named One of Canada’s Top 100 Employers for the Fifth Consecutive
Year
Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada; October 16, 2009; New Flyer Industries Inc.
(TSX:NFI.UN) (“New Flyer” or the “Company”), the leading manufacturer of
heavy-duty transit vehicles in Canada and the United States, announced today
that it has been named one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers for 2010. This is the
fifth consecutive year that New Flyer has received this acknowledgement.

The annual Canada’s Top 100 Employers award
recognizes employers that are industry leaders in attracting and retaining
employees. Each year, Mediacorp examines the recruitment histories of over
75,000 employers across Canada. From this initial group, Mediacorp invites
10,000 of the fastest-growing employers, plus 6,000 other companies and
organizations in industries that Mediacorp editors wants to examine more
closely, to apply for this year’s competition.
New Flyer was selected
for its industry-leading practices, such as providing full salaries to
apprentices during training, providing tuition subsidies, hosting wellness
events, and its retirement savings plans. New Flyer was also recognized for
demonstrating leadership in its sustainability efforts, which includes
maintaining environmental and safety certifications, having an Environmental
Coordinator role, and providing volunteer, fitness and social opportunities for
employees.
